One of those days...

Do you ever feel like hiding out in your closet all day long?
Or just laying in bed, with the covers drawn up over your head?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed?
That it's just too much?
Do you ever feel the weight of this world pressing in around you?
Or the heavy responsibility and pressure that can constantly pull at your every move?

Some days I just want to be that 5-year old little girl again.
Twirling in my skirt.
Scraping my knees.
Carefree.

Today is one of those days.
Nothing outrageous happened.
Max and I didn't get into any spat.
The kids aren't unusually crazy or demanding.
The kitty didn't do anything stupid. Yet, at least.

I just feel discouraged.
And overwhelmed.
And burdened.

But you know what?
I am blessed.
And these are a few of the things reminding me why I don't really want to hide away:

My amazing husband, telling me over and over that he loves me, that I'm beautiful, that he's got me.
Calling a dear friend, just because she'll get that somedays you feel this way.
The grinning face of my 1-year old, giving me slobbery little girl kisses and giggling in my face.
A little baby boy with drool running down his chin, making dinosaur noises at me.
Knowing that God is my strength, that He has overcome this world;
That the weight of the world that overwhelms me has been conquered by the One who gave it all.

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world."
John 16:33 (ESV)
