Dirt Cake

As I shared in my birthday post earlier this week, I LOVE me some dirt cake. And after a few requests, and knowing how easy it is to make, I knew I had to share the recipe. My mom started making me dirt cake when I was in elementary school, I think. The love affair with it has been long in the making, ha ha!
Dirt Cake
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
8 oz package cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 1/2 cup milk
2 packages (3.5oz) instant Vanilla pudding
12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
20 oz package Oreos
gummy worms
Beat butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar in large mixing bowl, until smooth. In medium bowl, mix milk into pudding mixture until smooth. Combine the two mixtures in the large bowl, until evenly mixed. Add Cool Whip into mixture, until smooth.
Crush oreos - you can use a food processor, or put them in a plastic bag and crush with rolling pin or hands. You should now have two mixtures - the crushed oreos and the pudding mixture. Alternatively layer in large bowl (or use clean, small flower pots for a cute effect!), starting with the pudding layer and ending with the oreo layer. Chill in fridge until ready to serve. Immediately before serving, add gummy worms on top. {If you put the gummy worms into the layers, which you can, just know that the worms will become very slimy after awhile - I prefer mine on top!}
Enjoy!
