The little things this week.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

I've talked before about being intentional in noticing and appreciating the little things.
And I will keep talking about it.  For me, it's often a way to change my perspective, to teach me to count my blessings, to remind me of all the small wonders that God puts in front of my face on a daily basis.

It's easy for me to get caught up in the big picture or in hard circumstances or get lost in my thoughts,
but I really want to make it more of a habit to see the little, tiny things that are all around me -
to find and choose joy, even in the midst of toddler tantrums and seemingly endless poopy diapers
and marriage conflicts and food struggles and life questions.

Here are some of the little things that I've noticed in the last week,
that have served to remind me to stop and open my eyes to what's happening around me.
A new scarf & earrings from a dear friend // L on her "big girl" bike // Skyping with Bibi & Babu
writing thank-you notes // Evie walking! // carting the kids to KinderJam
getting my sweat on // new nose ring happy face // delicious body-fueling smoothie
spending an hour by myself at Starbucks // proud Marine and his birthday flag // playing in the fort-tent
sending Daddy pictures at work // giggling at the owls dipping their toes in coffee // playing outside

  5. As always, you have encouraged me yet again. I love your heart and your perspective. And you're making me want to get my nose pierced again! I took mine out almost two years ago but think I want to get it re-pierced now :)

  7. I adore this. I think it's so important to focus on the little bits of life like you talked about. It's funny, because sometimes I'll catch myself posting something on Instagram and thinking, "Oh gosh, another food picture or the 238470th picture of my kids." But it's a way for me to freeze the beauty in that moment and realize how lovely the ordinary can be.
