Embrace the Camera & the Farmer's Market

Saturday, October 12, 2013

Happy Saturday!  We woke up to a foggy morning, which meant laying around in our jammies, watching Mary Poppins, making biscuits & gravy for breakfast, and drinking lots of hot coffee.  Max has to work a little over the weekend, so today is a let's-just-hang-out-and-relax-together kind of day.  Kids are currently napping, and once they wake up, we'll go play outside (the sun has come out and it looks gorgeous out!), and then make homemade pizza for dinner!

We headed to the Monterey Farmer's Market last Tuesday, and had such a fun time walking up and down, smelling all the delicious foods being made, seeing all the bright-colored produce for sale, checking out the neat wares for sale, listening to live music, and tasting samples of fresh strawberries and peaches.  Max and the kids picked out a lovely bouquet of roses and daisies to bring home, which have kept me smiling all week - plus, they smell awesome!  At the end of our adventure...
There is a man that has a cart full of birds, and the kids always enjoy going to see/hold them.  They dragged Max over and got to each hold a bird.  Totally made the trip for them!
 A daddy and his babes.
The kids running and spinning on the lawn.  Boundless energy, those two...
The lovely orange, yellow, and light pink flowers!
Emily at The Anderson Crew and Ashley at Under the Sycamore hosted a fun challenge this week called Embrace the Camera - basically they challenged people to get IN pictures, rather than always being behind the camera.  I love this idea.  It's easy to get caught up in TAKING the pictures, and documenting the memories, but I want to remember to get in the picture from time to time, so that we can look back some day and remember that we were all apart of the memory-making!

Here are some of the pictures from the week...
Have a great weekend, y'all!

  3. Gorgeous flowers, and what a great looking family! Our farmer's markets in rural Minnesota are pretty tiny, but I do love seeing all the delicious produce and tasty baked goods. I've gotten a lot more adventurous and tried some new stuff this fall. I've discovered that I'm a huge fan of squash, and I even bought my first eggplant the other day. The joys of the farmer's market!
