Random thoughts on a Wednesday morning.

We are feeling much better around here (Praise the Lord!), although L and I have a residual cough, but it's not so bad and I'm hoping it'll go away soon!  The cough woke L up earlier than usual this morning, so she got up, kissed Daddy on his way out the door, had a sunrise breakfast with mama while Z slept in, and then snuggled on the couch to watch some Winnie the Pooh.
I've been saving all the loose change I find around the house for a few weeks - for a pumpkin spice latte.  I was in LOVE with them last year, so a few weeks ago, when I knew they were back, I started drooling at the thought of one.  But, I can't bring myself to get one when it's still super humid and warm out, so I've been saving my pennies and waiting for a day that feels a bit more "fall"-like!  I had been carrying around a little plastic bag filled with change I've pulled out of the laundry, couch cushions and car, but I kept having to dip into it  - for parking a few weeks ago, for a tip at the commissary, for whatever - and a few days ago, I was sharing my woes with my dear husband.  He laughed at me, ha ha!  But then, yesterday, I came upstairs and went in our room and found something on my nightstand (yeah, I know that frame isn't filled yet...it was a sweet gift from a dear friend and I've been meaning to get a picture in it).  Do you see it!?
He keeps a jar to fill with his change and has always called it his fish fund, but he gifted the jar partially full of change to me, and it's now become my pumpkin spice latte fund :)  He definitely made me smile.  I can't wait to get the delicious drink soon...it'll be so worth the wait!!!
Lately, I've been putting half a packet of dark chocolate cocoa mix into my coffee in the mornings (yeah, we like coffee around here, can you tell?!) and it's absolutely fantastic.  PLUS, it's a fairly cheap option (@ .99 a box of cocoa mix!) for adding a little something extra to my coffee!  Oh yeah, and everything is always more tasty in a festive pumpkin mug!
I have some fun ideas rolling around in my brain, for some decorations/crafts around the house.  I'm hoping to make time this week and next to work on some of them.  I'll do my best to document, so I can share!
And I also haven't forgotten about sharing more of my/our story.  The ideas and words have been percolating in my head, and I'd like to start writing them down soon.  Well, we are off for a walk this morning.  It cooled off a bit last night once the rain clouds rolled briefly away, so I'm crossing my fingers that it's still gloriously non-muggy this morning!

  4. So sweet of him to gift you his fish fund! I'm almost scared to open my holiday/decor boxes because I've been finding cute stuff and purchasing little things here and there... and we have 2 HUGE totes (although most of it is devoted to Christmas).
