10-month L/6 months down!

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Today, the 18th of August, marks L's 10-month mile marker. Crazy! I can't believe that in 2 more months she will be a 1-year old! Where has time gone?! I tell ya, I feel like it was just HER in my big round belly, getting ready to be born! I don't have any pictures from the past few days, mostly because she has become a snot factory (a cold? teething?) and seemed pretty miserable today.

She is doing super well. Continues to keep us on our toes and keep us laughing at her antics. This month, she has learned to wave bye-bye, climb up the stairs (which she thinks is GREAT fun!), and give smooches (albeit super slobbery open-mouthed ones!). She loves to "bark" like a doggie - even at other animals, which cracks me up! And she still loves the kitty a LOT - she will make this high-pitched squeal (her "meow") when she sees the kitty now! L loves to go swimming and to play peek-a-boo.

Another little trick she has recently learned, that we are trying our best to not laugh at or encourage, is to drop food from her high chair. I've noticed that when she is "done" at certain meals, she will take pieces of her food and intentionally drop it off the sides of her chair. The first time she did this, she would look directly at me, drop the piece of food and make an "Uh-oh" noise. I think my mom had to leave the table because she was laughing so hard! Otherwise, she is a great eater. She LOVES watermelon, potatoes (especially potato pancakes recently!) and cheese (she picked around all her food the other night to get all her mozzarella cheese pieces). She is mainly feeding herself (and it's usually food that we are eating, as long as it's soft enough), unless it is super soupy (like applesauce or yogurt) - so messes definitely ensue!!!

Three other random quirks that she has had recently: one is that she loves any kind of remote. She automatically gravitates towards it and wants to play with it/push buttons (even if they don't make anything happen). Oh. And she loves cell phones - or really anything with a screen on it - I am thinking she'll be getting a play phone for her birthday coming up!!! Two is that she loves paper. She loves to crumple it, rip it up and just play with it. I think it's a sound and texture thing, but it makes me laugh. Three is that she is in love with pillows and big squishy animals. She LOVES to snuggle into them and roll all over in them. It's super funny!

So there you have it - the life and times of my 10-month old daughter :)

Today also marks 6-months down in this deployment. Woot! Another month done and over with. Holy stromboli! That's half a year! I sure do miss that husband of mine! We haven't been able to skype since those few times at the end of June - but we've had fairly regular communication (a phone call or two a week and an email every few days), which helps the days go by. Max is doing well - working hard and reading lots of books in his "free" (ha ha - like a few minutes each night before bed!) time. That man continues to amaze me with his incredible fascination and passion for knowledge - his brain absorbs facts that mine definitely does not!!

Ok, off to fold diapers - the never-ending battle of cloth diapers!!!
