colds, birthday parties and phone calls.

our weekend was pretty good. poor little L was still fighting her first cold. and of course, it got worse before it got better. we all felt so sorry for her. she was super congested, had a hoarse, barky cough and was super tired. it was easy to tell that she just didn't feel good at all. luckily though, she did sleep through the night. which helped her get a little better, and helped me get my needed preggo sleep :) she is still getting over it, but is definitely on the mend. the good news is, she is a super happy sick baby. was smiley and laughing, even though we could tell she felt miserable. i am still praying that she is 100% better by thursday, so she can get the all-clear at her physical. i sure don't want to miss her echocardiogram next monday or have to re-schedule way in the future.

we had our family birthday celebration here at my parent's house on saturday. my cousin has a birthday a few days after mine, so we have had a joint celebration for years. it's kinda funny that we still do it, even though i am 24 and he is 18. it's fun though and we get to pick the menu, which is always the best part! it was great having family over and catching up on what is going on in their lives. i'll try my best to get pictures up tomorrow. oh! speaking of pictures, that reminded me that i dyed my hair last week. i had visions of beautiful shiny dark hair with a hint of red throughout. so i got this box and had such high hopes. i did it myself, at home. and once i took the towel off my hair, i almost wished i hadn't, ha ha! it was RED! and i mean like this cherry red. ok, so maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it was quite different than what i had envisioned. now, it's the kind that washes out after a month, so in a few weeks, it'll tone down a lot and be the beautiful shade i was hoping for. it was just rather funny, as i was even slightly embarressed to go outside that day, thinking my head was like this flaming neon sign!

other than that, the weekend wasn't too exciting. we hung out around the house, to try to keep L on the mend. i was feeling not so happy this morning. as it had been 24 days since i had heard anything from my husband. i was getting crabbier and crabbier with each day of nothing. i was definitely getting into that pity party mode, which is not a good place to be. i try to stay positive and just get through each day. because each day done is one more closer to seeing my love. anyways, my phone rang late this morning. and it was the strange number that makes me get all shaky from excitement, knowing it would be my husband on the other end. it was wonderful to finally talk to him after more than three weeks of not hearing anything. (ok, so i know i shouldn't complain about three weeks. i am sure there are plenty of people who have to wait months to hear anything at all. i know i should be grateful that he even gets to call at all!) he is doing well and finally doing the job we all thought he would be doing, which is good. works a LOT and sleeps very little. but sounded good. has been running a ton, which i find kinda funny. only because i never knew him to be a runner, but i guess when there's nothing else to do, he's gotta find some way to keep himself busy (i guess i would choose sleep over running, but whatever!). needless to say, it made my day/week/month to hear from him. and all with hopes that he'll be able to call again this week! woot-woot! i am excited!

Jealous about the family celebration. I am impatiently waiting for ours on the first week of july when my mom, brother, aunt and I have our birthdays. Family celebrations are amazing! :)
