16 weeks

the weather around here lately has me just downright gloomy. silly rain, grey skies, chilly temps (it's been in the 50's) have all got me pretty down. i am a sun kind of girl - i love hot weather and sunny days. so although spring was a welcome break from the snowy winter, i am done with it and am way past ready to move onto summer! i am trying to be positive about this deployment, but preggo hormones and this weather are doing nothing to help me out!!!

today marks me being 16 weeks along. and as promised, i have a picture of my belly. i feel like it already sticks out, eeek!
comparing it to my belly when i was preggo with L, i feel like i look like i did when i was 20 weeks last year. which makes sense, seeing as this is my second baby, that i would start showing earlier. i am giving up on regular jeans - they are just getting too darn tight and uncomfortable - i always want to walk around with the button undone. which is silly when i have preggo jeans hanging in my closet. maybe i am just not ready for preggo jeans again! oh well, too late for that, i guess :) i was supposed to have a dr appt yesterday to check the progress of the baby and schedule the ultrasound, but he cancelled, so i will have to wait until next week. everything is going well, as far as i can tell, and i am excited to see what the dr has to say.

L had her echocardiogram done yesterday and did a great job. the most challenging part about the entire day was simply not letting her take a nap! she usually takes two naps before the time that her test was scheduled and she was so confused as to why she couldn't sleep. she was a little crabby and fussy, but for the most part, she played and was smiley. she did great with the nurse and the dr, and they kept saying how cute she was. she took the sedation medicine fairly well and fell asleep within five minutes (she seemed so relieved to finally get a nap!). the technician came in, did the test (which was fun to watch - i am always so fascinated by the technology and the things that can be looked at!) and then L got to sleep a little longer until we woke her up. she woke up very easily and was so ready for something to eat (she hadn't had a bottle for over 7 hours - and normally takes one every 3ish hours!). once we left the hospital, she fell asleep again in the car (big surprise) and slept like a rock for a few hours. we'll find out the results within the next few days, but i'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

L has another dr appt tomorrow, to check up on her solitary kidney. we haven't seen the urologist for a few months, so it'll be good to go in and make sure everything with her one little kidney is looking normal. L has been becoming more and more mobile. she scoots all over the floor, has been rocking back and forth on her hands and knees - and is going to be crawling in no time. still no teeth, but i keep thinking they are going to make an appearance any day now.

here are some photos from our mother's day. after church, we headed over to my uncle's house, where he made us all a lovely mother's day brunch. he is an awesome cook and made some delicious food! and then we sat around, feeling stuffed, and enjoyed each other's company! it was a very nice day!

  1. She has the prettiest eyes! The pictures are gorgeous. I'm glad the apt went well and I don't think you show too much!

  2. My grandparents are young enough to have four generations, too. I think that's so sweet.

By the way, I left you a little surprise on my blog. Check it out!
