Marine Corps Ball 2012

So glad my husband is a goof and makes silly faces, ha!
We went to the Marine Corps Ball this past weekend, and had a great time.  Sadly, I did not take many pictures, and those that I did take didn't all turn out fabulous.  But hey, we have some, and they are cute and will serve as a reminder of our evening.

We got gussied up for the evening, left our children (all 3, woot!) in the very capable hands of good friends, and headed to the Ball.  The night started out with a social/cocktail hour - it was pretty neat, because a guy that Max works with decided to have his reenlistment ceremony during this time, so we took 10 minutes to watch that.

Next up was the ceremony - the pomp and circumstance of the evening.  Just like last year, I really enjoyed the ceremony.  I was once again fascinated by the pageantry and precision, as Marines celebrated and honored the 237th birthday of the Corps.  After the ceremony, which lasted about a half hour, we moved into the dining room, where we were served dinner - chicken, steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls - and chatted with friends at our table.

A guest speaker was then introduced, and he had us all rolling in our chairs.  I thought he was engaging and funny.  When he was done, the cake was served, and the majority of people began filtering out.  We made our exit right after this as well, although our evening did not end there.  We came home and ended up staying up WAY past my bedtime.
All in all, we had a lovely time getting dressed up and celebrating the 237th Birthday of the Marine Corps!

  1. Yall are too cute! Love the USMC Birthday Ball traditions as well. There's just something patriotic about it whilst also having it full of gratitude to God at the same time. I am so glad they include prayers in their ceremonies.
