What I'm Wondering Today

mel @ head in the game heart in the sand started a 'what i'm wondering today' link-up, with some fun questions that she has been thinking about. i thought it would be fun to join in the fun - plus, i just wanted to answer some questions! here are the questions, plus my answers:

1. Does your man stay shaved when he's home - both head and face?
maxwell definitely is kinda quirky about shaving. every weekend, without fail, i will shave his head for him (if he is home) - i haven't known him to not do it weekly since he joined the corps. and his face? if he hits noon with a unshaven face, i am usually in shock. i remember (now keep in mind this was the first week after boot camp), we went camping (in the middle of nowhere, where hardly no one saw us) and he still had to bring his electric razor and shave before being in "public". ha!

2. Do you typically go on a vacation together when he first gets home or do you settle in first?
this is our first (super-long) deployment, but we have spent plenty of time apart. usually when he comes home, we are here in MN, so the time is spent around here, bumming with family and friends. ideally, when we live in our own place, i think we'll settle in first before going on vacation.

3. Do you shave your legs more often or less often when he's home?
i definitely shave my legs more when he's home. only because i think he's always going to notice (and never does, ha ha!). during the winter months (it's basically like hibernation time in MN), i hardly ever get around to shaving my legs, especially when i only have a limited time to shower while L is taking a nap. but during the summer, i have to be much more intentional, obviously!

4. What is your go-to meal when he's gone? When he's home?
since i live with my parents, i eat with them, so we eat lots of different things every week. but if i am low on ideas or feeling lazy, my "easy" meals are always nachos or spaghetti. and when he's home, he always wants some form of a meat-potato meal. and typically always requests guacamole and hummus (at different times!) to munch on.

5. What's the number one thing you both do upon his return (deployment/training/mission/etc...)?
well, the number one thing we normally do upon his return is hug. and hug and hug and hug. and hold hands. after not seeing each other for however long, we are normally just so excited to feel each others arms around each other and know we are both ok - it's definitely a comfort thing.

  1. Thanks for linking up!

Al always notices my legs when I don't shave. He's funny because he doesn't care, but he'll make a "stubble" comment and laugh. What a turd!
