cake and cards. my creative side.

i made a chocolate cake the other day. it's a recipe we've had for awhile and i just LOVE this cake! it's the most moist and delicious chocolate cake i have ever had. i don't even usually frost it and it still tastes delicious. AND, it has no milk or no eggs. i thought i'd share the recipe and if you like chocolate cake, you should definitely try it out, because it's super easy to make.

kyle's milkless eggless cake (we call it my brother's cake because he is allergic to dairy, so it's a great cake for him!)
3 c. flour
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2 c. cold water
3/4 c. oil
2 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla

preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 9x13 cake pan (i use shortening on all the sides and then shake flour all over it). blend together the flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda and sugar (i just use a spoon and mix it up). then add the water, oil, vi
negar and vanilla. mix these in by hand (don't use mixer), until just incorporated. pour into prepared pan, put into oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out of the middle clean. now ENJOY!!!! if you want to frost it, then let cool and frost! i find that it is just as good without, but try it for yourself!

i have also been working on my card-making lately. i really enjoy making cards to give to people for special events/occasions - plus, then i don't have to buy one (which they seem to be just so expensive lately!). my latest card project has been the tri-fold shutter card. i got one from a good friend and was so impressed with the design that i had to try one for myself. after a slightly failed attempt, i decided to look up more specific designs online. i found a great tutorial, at vicki's blog, angel stamper 2 and got to work. i wanted to make max a card for father's day (well, L wanted to make him a card :) and needed my help, ha ha!), so i had L help me pick out the colors and we got to cutting/putting it together. i think it turned out super cute and i can't wait for him to get it in his father's day package!
