home sweet home.
Tuesday, June 01, 2010we made it back to MN, all safe and sound. our trip to CA was great - many entertaining family members, which made for many interesting and funny stories (most of which will probably not be shared, ha!). all i can say is that when you get loads of family together, there are bound to be some highly entertaining and strange stories that come out! all in all, it was a fun trip, but i am glad to be home and sleeping in my own bed again!
the wedding which we were in town for was on saturday, so we spent the days leading up to it helping the bride get ready(making cookies for rehearsal dinner favors, tying ribbons, putting different things together), enjoying the sun (and the cute little town green that had a candy, coffee and hot dog shop - all separate, of course!), and spending some quality time with the fam. sunday, my immediate family (minus the bro), L and i went into san francisco for the day. we walked along the embarcadero, drove through chinatown and japantown, and got some delicious bread and cheese to munch on. i'll get some pictures up in the next day or so.
this past week has done my heart a great deal of good. max was able to call a LOT! i think i have gotten to talk to him almost every other day for the past week now. it's been amazing! and that man says the funniest things that have me laughing my pants off! today he told me that he knows more about fish than nerds know about computers. and that nerds know a LOT about computers. yes - he did get some fish magazines and has relished being able to read them! we also talked a little about memorial day. i really enjoyed reading many of the thoughts of some of the military wives of the blogs i follow. i have to say that before max joined the marine corps, little thought was given to the day, other than i liked that i had a day off school and we would often BBQ some great food up. this year was much different. i spent a lot of my day thinking about the men/women that have given their lives to serve our country and who have sacrificed (many, their very lives) so much so that we have our freedom. max shared many of the same thoughts and said that this year was much different for him, being deployed, and commemorating the day was much more real to him than it's ever been.
L is doing well. i have spotted her two bottom teeth coming in! how exciting! they are just barely poking up above the gum! last week, she was a little fussier than normal, all due to the teeth. she still has yet to figure out going forward in the crawling position, but has the backwards down quite well! and often gets into the "push-up" position, which we find hysterical! she was a rockstar on our trip. did fairly well on the plane rides (and everybody on the plane gave us much grace and even commented on how good of a traveler she was) and didn't seem phased by the time changes or the crazy amount of family who wanted to hold her and play with her.
today also marks me being 19 weeks preggo. nothing too new or exciting. i've been feeling the little blueberry moving more and more, which is always so amazing! the other day, i think it even punched L while i was holding her, ha ha! i can't believe i am a week away from being 20 weeks, which is halfway! so crazy how fast time feels when i think of it in relation to being preggo. too bad this deployment can't feel just as fast! still having some of the same cravings - cheese, chocolate, root beer - nothing too new there either. so far, it feels so similar to when i was preggo with L, so that is leading me to believe that i have another girl baby growing in my belly, but who knows?! we will be finding out what we are having - we'll do what we did last year - ask the technician if they'd be willing to write it down in an envelope, then i'll open it when max is able to call, so we can find out together (there's no way he'd want other people knowing before him, ha ha!) - and then we'll let people know! oh the joys of babies!
